ROBOTNIK / IRL

Chris Morrin aka Robotnik guitar, vocals, loops

Robotnik is the stage name of the Dublin musician and performance artist Chris Morrin. Working in a production plant for frozen food as a student he learned the phrase from his Polish coworkers who couldn't speak a word of English. His music is a mood stimulating mix of Electro-Pop, Beats & Grooves, catchy melodies and Punk attitude. But the true magic of Robotnik only unfolds in his live performance. He comes across like a friendly alien, body performance folk some people called, a stand up comedian, a punk cosmonaut or a manic Beatnik poet taking part in a Woody Allen look alike competition, you have to see and judge for yourself. Chris Morrin is hosting a TV show in Ireland, is a controversial performer who is at the same time frightening, disturbing and entertaining. He will leave you with tears of happiness…

“Music is possibly the best art form. It's just the most amazing thing because you can't hold it and see it or taste it. It's pretty amazing. I love the universe. I love how the universe works. I'm big into quantum physics and I love how sound works. I just think it's incredible how a car alarm can be instantly horrible and how Beethoven can be instantly beautiful.”
Chris Morrin

Nobody else could get away with what he does. It's a surprise that he does not get the media coverage that he deserves and that he has not yet been picked up by a record label.

Robotnik's upbeat tunes are brilliantly bonkers and sweet, and should be investigated immediately by all persons interested in dancing around like loons. The likes of “Weird Road” brings out a softer, quieter side which manages to be a little more introspective and bittersweet than the more upbeat stuff, but no less engaging.
