In his solo performance, the Munich based choreographer looks at the vast and lonely character of a seemingly indefinite space. It is not Nature with its myths that plays the main part here, but rather Milan Kundera's idea saying that we only have a limited set of gestures and movements at our disposal that tend to show up in one human or another.


Precise timing, neat precision. Dreher makes use of intensive stage presence, making almost everything that he does seem really interesting. In a playful way, he presents a stage show which is in contrast with a real training match of female volleyball players. Yet the integration of the two ends here...

Stefan Dreher (1966) is dancer, choreographer and teacher living in Munich. He studied at Folkwang Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Tanz in Essen, under Pina Bausch. Then he went on to work with Joachim Schlömer and a number of Belgian choreographers, filmmakers and visual artists. Together with a group of dancers, actors, writers and other artists, he found the Loving Lucy company in 2002 which has made a score of choreographies so far, e.g. yoyo about the stillness at the point of return (2002), Station to Station, Loving Lucy about the impossibility to learn dancing (2003/04), Angie an instant comedy in episodes (2005/06), island (2007) and A Video for Youtube (2007) created with Hans Theys and filmed by the audience. In 2008, Dreher came up with Superimposing and Dogs Excluded (Ausgenommen die Hunde) followed in 2009 by the dance performance Estranged in Paradise (Fremd im Paradies) based upon Edward Albee's famous drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? A short solo premiered in August 2009 and is called _______ ?. The newest production for January 2010 is a quartet and called Between the Acts.
