Tomáš Janypka (1989) is a Slovak choreographer, performer and mentor. As an independent artist and a member of the ZDRUHESTRANY collective, he has worked on a number of collaborative projects with renowned artists such as Antoinette Helbing, Jaro Viňarský, Sonja Pregrad and Jan Mocek. Among his highly acclaimed works was the intervention Greyscape of the Solitude – choreography in the installation Completing the Sphere by sculptor Juraj Gábor. For his take on a modern cowboy, Lonesome COWBOY, he received a wider nomination in last year’s Thalia Awards in the field of alternative theatre.
Tomáš Janypka’s creative uniqueness lies in his openness to different genres and approaches. An important starting point for his work is a bodily and conscious approach to creation, in which he explores intimate human experiences and their relationship to society.
