Eliška Říhová

The talented director and playwright Eliška Říhová (1994) graduated from DAMU in Directing and Dramaturgy of Alternative and Puppet Theatre – for her authorial production House of God she was awarded at the Encounter festival. She drew attention to herself with her dramatization of Annie Ernaux’s text A Woman’s Story at MeetFactory. For her play The Farewell Party – which she later directed at the New Stage of the National Theatre – she received the Evald Schorm Prize 2021. She is also active in radio and film production, especially documentaries. Her theatre work is closely linked to writing dramatic texts, which she then stages herself. The new production of Carcoma, which premiered last November and under which Říhová is signed as director and author of the dramatization, was named Success of the Month by Divadelní noviny.
At last year’s Flora she presented her successful project Nobody’s Land: Arriving, co-created with Alžběta Nováková. Hansel and Gretel is her first opera direction.
