Yousef Sweid (1976) is a theatre, television and film actor. He was born as a Palestinian in the city of Haifa on Israeli territory. He studied theatre at Tel Aviv University. He worked with director Yael Ronen (his first wife) already in 2006 on Plonter at the Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv. Together at Maxim Gorki Theatre, they staged for example The Situation with which Sweid made a guest appearance at the Flora Theatre Festival in 2017.
In addition to his prolific theatre career, he has also enjoyed success as a film and television actor. He appeared in Eytan Fox’s films Walk on Water and The Bubbles. He gained international attention for his role as Hasan Ibrahim in the pilot episode of the American series Homeland (2011). He has also appeared in series such as Game of Thrones, Hatufim, The Agent, and Baghdad Central, which were also successful in the Czech distribution.
