Ceremonial Opening of the 28 Flora Directed by Christopher Rüping

NEWS

We are delighted that this year's edition of Flora Theatre Festival, with the theme of Equality, will be officially opened on Saturday 10 May by director Christopher Rüping and the international ensemble Schauspielhaus Bochum with the title Grief Is the Thing with Feathers

One of the most important German directors of today – Christopher Rüping, whose production The New Life based on Dante's Divine Comedy enchanted the audience of last year's Flora, will take care of the opening ceremony of 28th Flora. After exactly one year, on 10th May, the ensemble from Bochum will return to Olomouc in an evocative adaptation of the poetic novel by the British writer Max Porter Grief Is the Thing with Feathers / Trauer ist das Ding mit Federn

For her role as the nosy Crow, who helps a grieving family cope with the sudden loss of her mother in her own peculiar way, actress Anna Drexler won the prestigious German theatre prize DER FAUST.
„Anna Drexler is so authentic, personal, direct, unpolished, that we never have the impression that we are watching an actress virtuosically portraying a role, but a living person who lives the story with everything in her, who has given herself over to it. Thanks to the emotional tension she exudes, moments of silence full of profound truthfulness are created.“ (Jury of the Theaterpreis DER FAUST)

The eleven-day festival, which takes place from 9 to 19 May, is framed by the annual motto Equality. The festival programme will be published gradually. Tickets will go on sale in mid-April. Dear audience, dear spectators, we look forward to seeing you!
